What it is like to attend
Children show kindness to others, for example when they pass them a cup at snack time. They play cooperatively alongside their friends. Children are confident to introduce themselves to visitors, telling them that their favourite toys are cars.
Children benefit from staff who know them well. For example, if children are quiet, staff quickly identify this and spend time talking to them and offering comfort until they develop in confidence. This supports children's emotional well-being and helps them to feel safe and secure. Children are independent, such as during mealtimes and snack times. They pour their drinks and help to wash up plates and cups when they have finished.
Staff understand how children progress. They plan experiences to help them experience nature. Children happily go with staff for walks around the host school's field. They collect sticks, feathers and leaves to bring back to the nursery to use in their artwork. They are creative when they use glue and natural resources to make pictures. Children are supported to develop their understanding of positional language. When children play with toy train tracks, staff talk about the train going

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen staff's interactions with children to help them understand why rules and boundaries are in place n support staff to give parents further information about their children's individual learning, to help them support their children's learning at home more precisely.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
