What a funded hour still costs

Funded hours
Eligible working parents of children aged 9 months onwards can now get up to 30 hours childcare per week, across 38 weeks of the year. Existing offers also include 15 hours childcare for all 3 and 4 year olds and 15 hours childcare for 2 year olds for families using additional government support, Tax-Free Childcare and Universal credit childcare.
Worth knowing. The funding we receive is intended to cover the cost of high-quality, flexible childcare. This funding does not cover the cost of food, other consumables, additional hours and additional services; we therefore ask for a weekly additional charge to cover these costs. Parents are asked to pay these charges as without this funding we are not able to provide the quality of care we strive to offer. If you are unable or unwilling to pay this voluntary contribution and choose to opt out you will be res.

What it is like to attend
Children thoroughly enjoy their time at this friendly nursery. They happily leave their parents at the door. Children of all ages, including the very youngest, develop warm and affectionate relationships with staff. Babies remain close to staff who support them as they explore. Highly attentive staff support children to be safe and develop emotional security.
Two-year-old children make choices about what they want to do. They move around the room, selecting resources that interest them. For example, they use their hand-to-eye coordination to build towers. Staff encourage them to build their towers higher. Three-year-old children show confidence when they bring visitors a book to read to them. Pre-school children enjoy a range of activities to support their curiosity. They use their imagination and dress up as astronauts as they explore the enticing pretend space station.
Staff have high expectations of children's behaviour. For example, they help children to understand rules and boundaries, especially when they use the soft-play zone. Children understand they must only go down the slide feet first. From a young age, babies show a sharing and caring attitude. For example, babies offer their peers toys. Staff offer lots of praise, which contributes to babies growing selfesteem.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should: - reflect on the quality of teaching and learning experiences of children to build on the existing good practice and measure what is being done well and what could be further improved.

- Is £49.00 a day still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
