Funded hours
Working Parents: Up to 30 hours of funded childcare is now available for children aged 9 months to 4 years. This is capped at 1,140 hours maximum per year (30 hours x 38 weeks). Universal Support: 15 hours for ALL 3 & 4 year olds, capped at 570 hours maximum per year. Government Support: Up to 15 hours for 2-year-olds on qualifying benefits (details on the Best Start in Life website).
Worth knowing. We have a voluntary sundry charge. The funding that we receive from the county council is intended to cover the provision of child care, but unfortunately isn’t enough to cover additional costs such as consumables and snacks. We have a voluntary daily sundry charge of £2.50 per day attended per child. This will be itemised on your invoices. Without this voluntary charge, it is extremely difficult for us to provide the level of provision we currently offer.

What it is like to attend
Children receive a warm welcome as they arrive at the pre-school. Staff stand at the door and great them by name. Children understand the routines of the day.
They know that before they go to play, they are to wash and dry their hands.
Children enjoy taking part in snack time. They pass their friends plates and food, making sure to give their friends their favourite coloured plate. Staff create a menu and draw a picture of the snack. They write the name of the food and the number of items to take. When children ask what the snack of the day is and how much they can have, staff remind them to read the menu. Children of all ages do this and begin to recognise that words have a meaning.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen partnerships with parents and other settings that children attend, to promote consistency with learning - support staff to provide consistent messages to children so they understand the rules, in particular when inside.

- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
