What it is like to attend
The nursery is filled with the laughter and singing of happy children. Staff are kind and caring. Their love of their roles shines through in the supportive relationships they form with children. Staff provide consistent praise and reassurance that help children to develop a strong sense of belonging. Children are remarkably confident.
For example, they call out they are 'the best dancers' while enjoying some music with their friends. Staff model positive behaviours, such as good manners and respect. They give children clear and consistent boundaries and teach them right from wrong. Children listen, follow staff's guidance and behave well.
Staff provide activities based on children's interests. A simple idea can develop in to a large-scale project. For instance, staff follow children's interest in weather and travel after playing in the snow. Children then visit a travel agent and come back to nursery to make a boat from boxes. Within such experiences, staff weave particular skills and knowledge in that they want each child to learn, based on their observations and assessments. For example, they help children, who need to learn to work cooperatively with others, to negotiate the size and colour of the boat with their friends. Staff use mathematical language with children to strengthen their understanding of size and position. This helps children to build on what they know and can do.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen supervision sessions so that leaders are more aware of staff's understanding of the curriculum and are able to support them to strengthen their good teaching further n take more account of the individual needs of older children when planning for their care and learning n review routines and activities to minimise disruptions to children's learning.
