What it is like to attend
Children show increasing levels of independence, confidence and resilience at this welcoming and friendly nursery. They quickly form trusting bonds with their key person and other staff. Children happily welcome new visitors and are keen to share what they are doing. For example, babies show their puzzle pieces, toddlers are keen to talk about the food they are eating for lunch, and pre-school children delight in sharing their 'threading' creations. Staff readily commend children's efforts and achievements. This helps children to develop increasing levels of selfworth.
The ambitious curriculum supports all children to make good progress. Leaders organise a range of extra-curricular activities that enrich the curriculum considerably. These range from supporting children's communication development with signing to promoting their good emotional health and mental well-being and to developing physical skills with an external sports coach. These experiences benefit all children, particularly those who may be disadvantaged.
Leaders and staff have high expectations for children's behaviour. As good role models, they assist children to show care and consideration. Children mimic these good qualities well. For example, older toddlers see their younger peers struggling to pour themselves water and support them to hold the jug. Pre-school children ask staff if they can help them set up activities. Acts of kindness such as these help to create a mutually respectful environment.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
